On to Utah

Hi all,
Moving a lot lately and seeing so much new beautiful country we have to pinch each other to believe.
Our drive from Pahrump to Utah was pretty cool although it did have us drive through Las Vegas. We hit Vegas just after rush hour and luckily no problems other than having to really hold hard as the truck wanted to pull at the exits.(jk.)
On through northwest Nevada we viewed mountain ranges at our sides. Into AZ we had to do a small climb and through a neat canyon pass.

As we drove along we started to get a new sight-- trees. Seems all we have seen in months is mesquite and creosote bush.
It also didn't take long to spy some of Utah's famous red rock.
Our new home is Sand Hollow State Park  25 miles from Zion National Park. Sand Hollow is a fairly new park that is located along a pretty 1500 acre reservoir. They have huge full hook up sites and looks like the lake will get lots of use when the weather warms up a bit.

Of course the reason for staying here was being close for day trips to Zion. So Tuesday Wendy and I made a drive to check out Kolob Canyon. Kolob Canyon is part of Zion but you enter at a different location about 50 miles away.
It is a part of the park that doesn't get all the attention of Zion but we found that nice. It is only a small 5 mile drive into the canyon but the views are magnificent.

They have a couple nice hikes and we chose to give the Taylor Creek Trail a go. It is a 5 mile round trip hike that meanders back and forth along the creek (58 total crossings). It also features fantastic views and two cabins that were built in the 1930s.
