We are really getting into the Mardi Gras scene. We took in our second parade on Saturday night. It was in Fairhope about 8 mi. from here.
It was a very cool parade with a Saturday Night Live theme. The floats were awesome. One thing they did was follow the parade route twice. Which was good as the first time they seemed to be playing catch up and really went by fast. Maybe the first pass wore them out. On the second trip they slowed down and we were able to get better pics and enjoy it more.
On Sunday we made drive to the beach for a few hours. We got lucky and had some dolphins swim by. Not real close but there must have been a good dozen or so.
We then attended the kick off for the Mardi Gras celebration here at Rainbow Plantation.. They will be having some special dinners, elect a king and queen, and enjoy some musical entertainment. They also have their own parade around the plantation. The people here say it is the highlight of the year.
After that we had hot dogs with chili and shared appetizers and watched the Superbowl on a big screen.
Monday was a work day with Wendy doing laundry and me starting to wash and wax the rv.
Today it was to rain so we took a drive to Pensacola to see the National Naval Aviation Museum. We had seen this once about 10 years ago and they have added more since. It is a free museum and run by volunteers. We highly recommend this if you are in the area. This is also where the Blue Angels practice.(March thru November).
We really enjoyed the air museum too. Cool that it's free! I still have never gotten a glimpse at any dolphins...some day!
ReplyDeleteI envy you guys for enjoying that Mardi Gras! Looks so colorful and fun.
