Well, we found Luckenbach.
Luckenbach is about as small a place as you can find. It was founded as a trading post in 1849. It now consist of a really nice dance hall and a General Store with a small bar on ten acres. They do have an outside stage and advertise that you can rent the whole place. The big saying here (and on all merchandise) is Everybody's Somebody in Luckenbach.

The big event was a grand entrance of 200 cowboys n cowgirls in wagons and on horse. It was okay but I expected more decoration.( and maybe a few beads thrown.- jst kiddin). They had started out about six miles away and ended here.
Sunday we took a drive the the other end of Canyon Lake and walked across the huge dam. Nice windy walk. It was .8 from one side to the other. I told Wendy that it was the longest dam walk I ever took.
Monday the weather forecast was 86. We sat in the sun til it got just to hot. Then we took a scenic drive along the Guadalupe River.. The water color is a pretty green. This is a cool drive but all the land along is private and no places to pull over to see the view. They do a lot of tubing and must be twenty outfitters that operate, but it hasn't started up yet. It looked like it would be a beautiful trip.
We ended up near Gruene Texas (pronounced green) and had been told by others that this is a must see. It is home to the oldest operating dance hall. We arrived to early in the day for music but think we will try and get back as we picked up a schedule. The town also has a bunch of little shops and a neat old General Store.
The night ended with a nice campfire. Ahh, Thats what I'm talking about!
Today was a relax day. They had high wind warnings so looks like no campfire tonight. We did move our campsite to a non reservable site. That will allow us to extend our stay til Mar.16.
We have met some nice people here. Two couples from WI, one from MN, and a chap from the U.K.
We also hope to get a visit with a couple we had met at Betty's who will be across the lake from us.
